Retracing behaviors of the phase-matching angle in noncollinear phase-matched optical parametric oscillators

چکیده
We theoretically studied the retracing behaviors of the phase-matching angle in b-BaB2O4 optical parametric oscillators with noncollinear phase matching when they were pumped with the harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser. The results imply that two or more sets of signal–idler outputs can be observed at certain phase-matching angles. Meanwhile, we observed that over a quite broad signal wavelength range the phase-matching condition can be reached simultaneously, leading to an optical parametric oscillator of broad signal and idler spectral widths. Experimentally, with the pump at 532 nm, we observed a two-band signal spectrum, indicating the simultaneous phase matching of two center phase-matching angles, or retracing behavior. Also, broad signal and idler spectra were obtained with a well-chosen set of phase-matching conditions. The signal and idler spectral widths were 145 nm (745–890 nm) and 540 nm (1.32–1.86 mm), respectively. © 1998 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(98)01304-6] OCIS codes: 190.0190, 190.4970, 190.4410.

Optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification (OPCPA) has been demonstrated to be a promising approach for pushing femtosecond pulses towards ultra-high peak powers. However, the future success of OPCPA strongly relies on the ability to manipulate its phase-matching (PM) configuration. When a high average power pump laser is involved, the thermal effects in nonlinear crystals induce phase-mism...

Noncollinear parametric amplification based on type-II phase matching for the generation of ultrabroadband and tunable spectra in the near infrared is investigated. In a noncollinear geometry the group velocity matching condition between signal and idler can be obtained in frequently used crystals such as β-barium borate (BBO) even for wavelengths fully located in the anomalous dispersion regio...
متن کاملCompeting collinear and noncollinear interactions in chirped quasi-phase-matched optical parametric amplifiers
Chirped quasi-phase-matched optical parametric amplifiers (chirped QPM OPAs) are investigated experimentally. The measured collinear gain is constant over a broad bandwidth, which makes these devices attractive candidates for use in femtosecond amplifier systems. The experiment also shows that chirped QPM OPAs support noncollinear gain-guided modes. These modes can dominate the desired collinea...

Quantum entanglement of two photons created by spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC) can be used to probe quantum optical phenomena during a single cycle of light. Harris [Opt. Express 98, 063602 (2007)] suggested using ultrabroad parametric fluorescenc generated from a quasi-phase-matched (QPM) device whose poling period is chirped. In the Harris's original proposal, it is assumed that ...
